Treasure Chest of Energy Savings

OPALCO goes on tour with the TREASURE CHEST OF ENERGY SAVINGS

OPALCO’s treasure chest of energy savings is growing with new and expanding opportunities for members to save energy and money through rebates, incentives and education. OPALCO offers a full menu of energy rebates and incentives for appliances, equipment, weatherization, commercial lighting, grocery store upgrades and new construction through Bonneville Power Adminstration. As the OPALCO Treasure Map unveiled at the May annual meeting shows, there are more ways than ever to save on your monthly electric bill—and some new ways to get rebates on your energy efficiency investments.

OPALCO’s Energy Services Specialists are touring the islands in June (see below) to introduce and explain the new rebate opportunities. This is your chance to learn first hand how you can save on your monthly bills—and how you can do your part as a member of our island community to keep rates down by increasing the energy efficiency of your home and business. If we all become more energy efficient NOW, we can limit the load growth on our electric system in the near future—for which we will soon be charged more costly “Tier 2” rates.

OPALCO is also working to revamp our renewable interconnect program: we’re calling it the MORE (Member Owned Renewable Energy) Program. OPALCO staff will review the existing interconnect program and invite nominations of OPALCO members to a MORE Steering Committee. The Steering Committee will work to develop the new program, which could be funded by regular voluntary member donations, like Project PAL.

Please join us in June for these important public meetings:
